The event took place in <strong>Za\u0146a<\/strong> (Kurzeme region) and it was organized by project partners in Latvia &#8211; <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/zemniekusaeima.lv\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&#8220;Farmers&#8217; Parliament&#8221;<\/a><\/strong> in cooperation with LHEI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event was attended by 16 participants &#8211; farmland owners and a representative of the Ministry of Agriculture. We presented the project and the potential of gypsum to improve agricultural lands and reduce <strong>eutrophication<\/strong> of surrounding watercourses and the Baltic Sea. During the event, <strong>gypsum spreading<\/strong> was demonstrated and Professor <strong>Ainis Lagzdi\u0146\u0161<\/strong> of Latvia University of Biosciences and Technology (LBTU) presented field sampling methods to determine the effectiveness of gypsum amendments. Participants had the opportunity to visit the adjacent <strong>monitoring station<\/strong> and get acquainted with the research conducted by LBTU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gypsum amendments on agricultural lands have been successfully implemented in <strong>Finland<\/strong> for several decades. Similar demonstrations are also taking place in other project partner countries, where the effects of gypsum application are being tested in local conditions.
