Cooperation between the countries is important in the project, because the Baltic Sea is characterized by a large environmental variability between different regions, including regarding biodiversity. Therefore, it is important to develop common methods and approaches to the environmental protection policy of the Baltic Sea. Joint efforts, sufficient cooperation projects and international conventions are necessary to combine and harmonize environmental monitoring approaches to protect the biodiversity of the Baltic Sea.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Project aims to investigate the relationship between chemical pollution and possible functional biodiversity loss, offering tools for risk assessment in different parts of the Baltic Sea environment. Existing monitoring and research data on biodiversity, biological impacts and concentrations of individual chemical pollutants will be compiled and used to test relationships and build interrelated and validated predictive modeling tools. For field studies, suitable test sites in the coastal areas of Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Sweden and Finland are selected to represent natural habitats from the habitat of organisms in polluted areas to reference sites characterized by similar habitats with contrasting pollution status.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project activities are divided into five working groups, each of which consists of 2-7 tasks. All working groups have a lead partner or shared leadership. Due to the highly integrated structure of the project, all partners participate in all task groups, and thus LHEI will be involved in all parts of the tasks during the project. The participation of <strong>LHEI<\/strong> in the project will promote the introduction of new monitoring and evaluation methodology both nationally and internationally, as well as provide development opportunities for the introduction of an integrated chemical-biological monitoring and evaluation system. Cooperation and direct interaction with <strong>HELCOM<\/strong> will ensure that this project is developed in a politically functional manner and effectively supports the implementation of the Baltic
