The proposed tasks will contribute to the development of Latvian and Icelandic science and the raising of international prestige, as well as the recognition of the participating institutions in the field of microplastics and water environment research. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In order to obtain information about microplastic pollution in Latvian and Icelandic water ecosystems LIAE will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>participate in the collection of surface water samples of Icelandic lakes and fjords and perform sample processing and analysis;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>carry out processing and analysis of sediment microplastic samples of Latvian lakes (Sek\u0161u lake and Velnezers);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>analyze newly acquired data on microplastic pollution in the studied ecosystems and compare with existing data.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An integral part of the project is the promotion of cooperation between project partner countries and the provision of project publicity, where LIAE will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>go on an exchange visit to Iceland to learn about the application of sediment trap method in microplastic research and share knowledge in collecting surface water microplastic samples, as well as host an Icelandic student for experience exchange at LIAE to introduce the methods of collecting, processing and analyzing microplastic samples;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>inform the public about project activities on social media platforms and public events;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>present the obtained data at conferences and jointly created scientific articles.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Project partners<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul
