The annual forum of EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region is taking place in Visby, Sweden during October 29-31
3 LHEI projects at the EUSBSR Annual Forum in Visby
We have returned from the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region (EUSBSR) Annual Forum, where more than 650 participants from 9 countries of the Baltic Sea region and Ukraine gathered. LHEI presented Interreg Baltic Sea region projects TRUST ALUM and GYPREG, as well as Interreg Estonia-Latvia Programme project BioFloat.
Participants could see Latvian gypsum up close and learn how incorporating gypsum into agricultural soils can reduce phosphorus pollution. With the specially adapted game “Circus” for water management, participants were able to get to know other current water management projects in Latvia. More about the GYPREG project here.
At the TRUST ALUM stand, we demonstrated the effectiveness of PAC (polyaluminum chloride) in cleaning heavily polluted lakes from historical phosphorus pollution. We introduced stand visitors to the recently held lake Velnezers cleaning project. More here.
As part of the BioFloat project, we will install two floating islands in the spring of next year – in the pond of the Cēsis Palace Park and in a pond of Gulbene. At this time we are actively working on island design and procurement. Follow the project news here.
