Daugavpils University Doctoral Grants in Smart Specialization Field (1.1.1.8/1/24/I/004)

The aim of the project is to strengthen capacity of research and development in areas necessary for the growth and transformation of the national economy, by providing support for doctoral students to conduct research, expanding the number of doctoral degree holders in science and employment in research and promoting staff renewal at Daugavpils University.

Project results to be achieved: 1. Number of doctoral students who have received ERDF support for studies or scientific research work at the institution of the project applicant or project cooperation partner – 12; 2. Number of doctoral grant recipients who have obtained a doctorate degree of science – 3; 3. Research jobs created in supported structures – 3; 4. Number of women among the recipients of support – 5.

Project partners

Within the framework of the project support has been granted to Valentina Burdukovska for doctoral studies at Daugavpils University from 01.12.2025 to 30.11.2026. Research topic – development and role of citizen science in environmental data collection in Latvia, with an emphasis on plastic pollution.
