Project FUCUS field work in Estonia

From 26-30 May, within the framework of project “FUCUS”, we visited project partners in Estonia, where active field work was underway at the University of Tartu Research Station Kõiguste. The project team from LHEI and the Estonian Marine Institute participated in project partner meetings and jointly launched 2 of the 5 bladderwrack (Fucus vesiculosus) restoration activities planned in the project, both in the field and in the laboratory.

The aim of the event was to promote cooperation between Latvian and Estonian research institutions, which was successfully done. For the next in-person project meeting, the Estonian partners will visit us.

The project plans to develop methods and conduct experiments for the restoration of bladderwrack in the Gulf of Riga to establish and maintain a healthy and sustainable population.
