Welcoming guests from COST Action Priority exchange program

From August 20-28 scientists from Poland, Iceland and Greece visited LHEI to get acquainted with the methods of collecting microplastic samples and processing them in laboratory. The training took place within the framework of the COST Action Priority CA20101 exchange program and also allowed us to learn about microplastic pollution research topics that our guests are currently working on.

During the visit, we visited several beaches together, where we collected sand samples, and in lakes we demonstrated how the collection of surface water and sediment samples takes place.

As part of the knowledge exchange we introduced our guests to the current projects of the microplastics group – “BioFloat”, “MP-ARCTIC”, “IcyPlastic” and citizen-science campaign “Plastmasas pirāti”, as well as water remediation projects “TRUST ALUM” and “GYPREG”.

Agnieszka, Mathis and Dimitrios – thank you for your active participation and we look forward to continued cooperation!
