See you in Liepāja Sea Festival 2025!
On Saturday, July 12 Liepāja Sea Festival 2025 will take place, and we are happy to participate again with educational activities about the marine environment. As part of the rich event program, from 12:00 to 16:00, LHEI will present activities on the beach, in tents next to the Liepāja sand map installation.
Visitors will have the opportunity to participate in a fishing activity and study the net contents, discovering how surprisingly rich the world of marine life is only waist-deep in the water. Sensory-based exploration of the sea will also take place in various thematic workshops on the coast. Learn about the fascinating underwater world of the Baltic Sea in aquariums and under a microscope. Diving suits and research tools that we use to collect underwater samples will be available for viewing.
Workshop visitors will also be introduced to factors affecting the marine environment quality and how scientists assess marine pollution. We will introduce projects within where we measure pollution in our waters and find solutions to reduce it. Among other things, visitors will be able to learn about the fate of plastics after they enters the aquatic environment, and get acquainted with research methods for microplastic pollution.
