Last week we were visited by TRUST ALUM project partners from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) and Vattenresurs AB to carefully plan the piloting of the ALUM lake treatment method in Velnezers lake in Jugla that will take place in Spring 2024 together with project lead partner LIAE, Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development of Repulic of Latvia and Riga City Council.
Swedish TRUST ALUM project partner visit in Latvia
Last week the partners of TRUST ALUM project from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) and “Vattenresurs” AB visited Riga to plan the piloting of the ALUM lake cleaning method in the lake Velnezers in Jugla together with LIAE, Riga City Council and Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development of the Republic of Latvia scheduled for the spring of 2024.
There is a lot of work to be done – large treatment plant (boat) must be brought to Latvia, the surroundings of the pilot site must be prepared, the data obtained in the feasibility study must be collected and a model must be prepared for accurate calculation of the dose of polyaluminum chloride.
Researchers from LIAE and Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences carried out monitoring of the lake jointly and collected sediment samples to be sent to Sweden for further analysis. All these tasks are an integral part to make the lake cleaning process safe and effective.
