From September 23-27 conference on microplastic pollution research is held in Lanzarote, Spain
LHEI at the international conference MICRO 2024
This year the international conference dedicated to the research of microplastic pollution “MICRO 2024 – Plastic Pollution From Macro to Nano” is taking place for the 5th time. To present research and discuss current affairs, 23.-27. septembrim scientists from all over the world gather in Lanzarote, Spain.
At the conference Senior Researcher of LHEI Inta Dimante-Deimantoviča participates with a walking talk presentation “Tracing the journey of microplastics in lake from surface water to accumulation in the sediments”. Researcher Inga Retiķe takes part with a poster – “Why sampling season and location matter for monitoring micro and mesoplastics on the beach” and research assistants presented the following topics: Marta Barone – “Replicating success: sampling microplastics in environments of low pollution levels”, Sanda Svipsta – “Microplastics in river estuaries – assessing seasonality and importance of sample replicas”, Valentīna Burdukovska – “First results of citizen science campaign “Plastic Pirates” in Latvia – microplastic pollution in rivers and streams”, Juris Tunēns – “The effect of tourism on microplastic pollution amount in Baltic Sea Region lakes”.
