LHEI participates in the first partner meeting of the “iVALUE” project in Sweden

On May 14-16 the first in-person meeting of the project “Improving perceptions and value of Baltic Sea/freshwater ecosystems through alignment of policy aims and restoration measures (iVALUE)” took place in Norrköping, Sweden. The project is implemented with support from the Swedish Institute.

The main objective of the project is to develop a significant cross-border project proposal that will contribute to the restoration and sustainable management of the Baltic Sea Region ecosystems. The project brings together partners from different countries of the Baltic Sea Region and covers different fields – hydrology, ecology and social sciences.

The main responsibilities of LHEI in the project include researching funding opportunities, ensuring cooperation with the Latvian National Contact Point, communication activities, informing the public and active participation in project management and implementation. Scientifically, LHEI will provide expertise on such important topics as aquatic habitat restoration, pollution research, biodiversity, food chains and invasive species. This first meeting was an important step in developing the project concept, strengthening the partnership and planning future joint activities.
