On Friday, March 15 the 82nd International Scientific Conference of the University of Latvia took place and several representatives of LIAE presented their research at the Biology subsection “Research and protection of the Latvian water environment”.

Research Assistant Elīna Vecmane presented the results of “Lakes connect” project on the topic “The impact of tourism on microplastic pollution in lakes of Latvia, Lithuania and Poland”.

Research Assistant Gustavs Ruskuls gave a presentation “Investigation, mapping and classification of the biotope of massive underwater moraine outcrops at the Alku shoal, in the Economically Exclusive Zone in the Baltic Sea of Latvia”.

Research Assistant Paula Lilienfelde presented the study conducted as part of the monitoring program “Distribution of foreign crustacean and mussel species in Latvian ports in relation to environmental factors”.

Reasearch Assistant Anda Prokopoviča and Environmental Engineer Alise Bebrīte presented a poster on the topic “New opportunities for improving the ecosystems of Latvian lakes – floating islands and phosphorus mineral binding”.
