Project partner meeting for “BEACON” un “Detect2Protect” in Latvia

On June 3 – 4 LIAE organized a partner meeting in Riga for Interreg Baltic Sea Region program project “BEACON” and Biodiversa+ program project “Detect2Protect” – The 2nd “Baltic Sea Biological Effects Cluster Activities”

During the meeting we discussed the importance of biological effects in monitoring programs and the need to inform/educate the public about the use of such methods in determining environmental quality. Discussions were held about achieving project goals and results, how a dialogue with various stakeholder organizations during the project was created (industry, WWTPs, shipyards, port administrations, etc.) in order to evaluate their awareness and activities related to their activities in assessing the impact of pollution on the aquatic ecosystem. It is planned to introduce the results of project “BEACON” to stakeholders in Latvia in the near future.

Activities were carried out in the framework ofApplication of biological effects methods in monitoring and assessment of contaminants in the Baltic Sea (BEACON) (InterregBSR co-funded by the European Union #S007 10/2022-10/2024)and Biodiversa+ project New approaches in determining the impacts of chemical pollution to protect the biodiversity of the Baltic Sea (Detect2Protect) (Proposal number: 2021-473, financed by Latvian Council of Science, Agreement no. ES RTD/2023/26).
