Pētniece, Eksperimentālās hidrobioloģijas nodaļa

Galvenās pētniecības tēmas – ūdens ekosistēmu veselība, ekotoksicitātes un bioloģisko effektu pētījumi, vēžveidīgie/sānpeldes – bioloģiskie indikatori, HELCOM potenciālais indikators – reprodukcijas traucējumi sānpeldēs.

Pētnieciskais darbs apvieno gan laboratorijas, gan lauka darbus – sānpelžu un sedimentu paraugu ievākšanu, tiek plānotas ekspedīcijas un eksperimenti, sagatavoti paraugi un testorganismu kultivēšana, lai veiktu potenciālā piesārņotāja toksiskuma noteikšanu un ietekmes uz vidi izvērtēšanu, nosakot to akūtu vai hronisku efektu uz ūdens organismu izdzīvošanu, augšanu, reprodukciju, oksidatīvo un neiroloģisko stresu.

Biomarķieru metodes (to skaitā reprodukcijas attīstības kvalitāti) pielietošana palīdz noteikt toksikantu ietekmi jau zemākajos bioloģiskajos līmeņos, lai noteiktu vides kvalitātes stāvokli un piesārņojuma ietekmi uz bioloģiskajiem resursiem jau vairākas valstis veic izmēģinājumu pētījumus, lai piedāvātu šādu indikātoru monitoringa programmās.

Pētnieciskā darbība saistīta ar projektu īstenošanu, vadīšanu, rakstīšanu un darbojoties HELCOM un OSPAR darba grupās kā ekspertam bioloģisko effektu konstatēšanā. Atbildība LHEI sasitīta ar projektu izpildi saistībā ar biomarķieru (bioloģisko effektu to skaitā sānpelžu embriju deformāciju konstatēšanu) pētījumiem un sabiedrības informēšanu par metožu aktualitāti to pieloetošanai vides kalitātes noteikšanā.
