Jūras un ezeru fitoplanktona pētījumi- fitoplanktona sezonālā dinamika, abiotisko un biotisko faktoru ietekme uz fitoplanktona attīstību un pirmprodukciju. Pētījumi par potenciāli toksisko zilaļģu attīstību, toksīnu produkciju un to tālāku akumulāciju ūdens organismos.
Ekotoksikoloģiskie pētījumi – piesārņojošo vielu bioloģiskie efekti (biomarķieri) saldūdens un jūras bentosa organismos, sezonālā dinamika un to saistība ar ķīmisko piesārņojumu, biotiskajiem un abiotiskajiem faktoriem. Invazīvo sugu pētījumi Baltijas jūras piekrastē (ostās).
